Abs Fork Tune is an Italian product created to help your mountain bike fork fine-tuning and function optimisation according to the rider’s needs and rider’s technical ability , this kit as well as allowing to modify the compression curve and the damping speed (compression and extension) linearises the elastic operation of the fork according to overheating from prolonged use during a long off-road descent avoiding hardening, eliminates vibrations though the hands, keeps the air chamber lubricated by means of its specific grease reducing the clutches and thus increasing the sensitivity of handling, making it a “plush” fork in all senses.

HOW DOES ABS FORK WORK?

AbsFork is available in 2 versions (modular systems) to meet the needs of any Rider:

Kit comfort & Grip:
In the RACE field it’s necessary to have a S.A.G. of 15% to exult the characteristics of the product, on the contrary for a normal use (for example touring on Ebike) we recommend a S.A.G. 25-30%. Further decreasing the number of cylinders will gradually produce a more sustained and linear fork at the expense of comfort.
Kit Race:
Use this kit where high performance is necessary at the expense of comfort, we recommend an abundant 20-25% S.A.G. to make the fork very strong at low speeds.By further decreasing the number of cylinders, a more sustained and linear fork will gradually be obtained at the expense of comfort.

* Both kits are supplied with different modular cylinders by means of a rod and their specific lubrication grease (10 cylinders + 1 rod for 34 to 36mm forks with 140-180mm travel) (7 cylinders + 1 shaft for the forks from 32-33mm with excursion 80-110mm)

AbsForkTune can be installed on all air mountain bike forks with stem diameters from 32 to 36mm, including forks with rod (old models Fox or RS dual position) where in this case the rod supplied in the kit must not be used in this case the cylinders will be inserted directly on the rod.

Preliminary operations and necessary material:

1) With a high pressure pump for suspension forks, acquire a suitable cup wrench to unscrew the air fork chamber cap. Before carrying out any operation, it is necessary to carefully clean the area where it will be inserted to prevent impurities from ending up inside the fork chamber during the kit installation.

2) Before installing AbsFork, write down the inflation pressure reading from the pump pressure gauge.

3) Using the high pressure pump, inflate the air chamber. It is very important to make sure that the chamber is completely deflated to avoid unintentional plug removal operations.

4) Unscrew using your Cup wrench (not supplied in the kit), the air chamber cap to access the compartment where the ABS FORK TUNE will go. Before installing the product remove any (token) “volume spacer” present in the positive chamber.

5) Depending on the fork model, create your ABS FORK TUNE kit on the supplied rod (7 or 10 cylinders according to the excursion or your riding needs) and lubricate with the grease (PM600 military type or transparent silicone grease) starting from the bottom (contact area with the plunger in the positive chamber ) working upwards.

6) Insert the suitably greased kit into the fork chamber. The Abs Fork has to be re-greased every 50 hours of usage/ 6 months time period to give the best performance.

7) Exerting pressure between the bow with one hand and on the cross with the other hand fully extend the fork throughout its travel.

8) Remove the unnecessary Abs Fork cylinders so that there is at least 15mm offset between the base of the cap and the installed Kit.

9) Fully extend the fork again.

10) Measure the offset with meter or caliper in such a way that once screwed the positive chamber plug have 15mm between it and the installed KIT.

11) Screw the cap back on by hand.

12) Tighten the plug with the torque indicated by the manufacturer of the suspension.

13) Inflate the positive fork chamber with high pressure pump to obtain the S.A.G. desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

The kit can be installed at any time even outside of normal or extraordinary maintenance, using the proper tools needed to open a positive chamber and a suspension pump, just following step by step the instructions included in the kit.

The duration of the kit, like all the products, has a life depending on the thermal cycles (aging) and the frequency of use, for a normal use the kit can last more than two seasons or in any case much more than the time between an extraordinary maintenance and the next one.

No, this system takes advantages of more features and principles, in fact it allows the use of much lower pressures than the nominal ones, unlike the Neopos system, which uses only and exclusively the effect of “variable token” and it needs higher pressure than the nominal one going to weigh on the deadlift.

No, AbsFork ACS (Air / Polymer cushion system) is an innovation that introduces a new variable to the traditional air spring systems, working in combination with the air spring and thanks to its open cell composition, to its calibrated density and characterization of the material, AbsFork is able to let you feel an incredible comfort, acting as a cushion and speed modulator in compression and extension.

It is necessary an amount of about 10ml to grease the polymer externally starting from the contact area with the plunger,. Do not exceed 10ml using transparent silicone grease on the forks with positive and negative air chamber as excess grease, dissolving during usage, could pass through the communicating vessel, ending up in the negative chamber and negatively affecting its correct sizing

You can not use greases with lithium soaps or petroleum derivatives, we recommend: on forks with negative air chamber of specific suspension grease (PM600 Military or transparent silicone grease)on the forks with negative ‘coil’ spring it is also possible to use the specific oil for high-slip suspensions or transparent silicone grease

It can be used on all forks with positive air chamber in the stem sizes between 32 and 36mm, both with negative spring and air chambers

The kit gives the same performance on all types of suspensions, both gravity and cross-country / marathon and all Ebikes

It is advisable to comply with the instructions in the kit, but it is also possible to reduce the number of cylinders at will to modulate the characteristics of the kit.

Yes, the kit can also be used on suspensions where the rod is present in the positive chamber, in this case the cylinders must be applied directly on the rod without using the square polymer support provided in the kit.

During the setup phase it is advisable to preserve the length of the rod of the maximum size. We suggest to cut the eventual exceeded part once all the tests are carried out reaching the maximum satisfaction level.

the Race and Comfort kits can be combined to obtain different fork compression curves

It is necessary to grease again at least every 50 hours of usage or every 6 months to keep the o-ring of the fork properly lubricated.

The kit can not be installed on ohlins RXF34 and 36 due to the reduced size of the positive chamber cartridge. The kit can not be installed on forks with positive chamber with internal diameter less than 27mm.
